I am an ecologist with a background in terrestrial and riparian ecosystems. I am interested in the restoration and management of land and rivers for biodiversity conservation.
Recent research:
My main research over the past 10 years has been into the relationship between land management practices on grazing properties and the ecology and functioning of riparian areas in south-eastern Australia. As part of this work I have developed a method for assessing the condition of riparian areas called the Rapid Appraisal of Riparian Condition ( RARC ). I have also had a strong interest in the restoration of riparian areas, and its consequences for colonisation by native plants and animals.
Past research:
I have a background in the ecology and behaviour of birds, having completed a PhD on the ecology and social behaviour of Chowchillas, and an Honours project on foraging ecology of Heron Island Silvereyes.
